Lee Liou is a native of Southern California. He did his undergraduate studies at California State university, Los Angeles. He subsequently attended UCLA for his graduate studies where he received his PhD in Biochemistry. He relocated to the Midwest when he attended medical school at University of Illinois at Rockford. He chose to go into radiology because of his interest in the use of advanced technology in the compassionate care of patients and did his radiology residency at University of Illinois at Peoria. He went to The Ohio State University for a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology.

When not working, he has interests in having fun with his two young children, traveling, fitness and movies.
